Request new software
Before you install or buy anything, check whether it is already available. This page summarises SOP-IT-010.
Step 1: check the software catalogue
The software catalogue lists approved tools that you can install yourself, without a ticket. Look there first.
Step 2: if it is not in the catalogue
- Raise a request on the service desk portal. Name the software, say why you need it, and say how many people will use it.
- IT carries out a security review. The review takes up to 10 business days.
- If the software is approved, IT installs it or adds it to the catalogue.
Paid software
| Total cost | What you need |
|---|---|
| Up to $10,000 | A purchase request; see Raise a purchase request |
| Above $10,000 | Three quotes, as required by POL-FIN-005 |
| Up to $25,000 | The Procurement Lead (Noah Fischer) approves |
| Above $25,000 | Escalated to the CFO (Priya Raman) |
Licences
Licences that are not used for 90 days are taken back and returned to the pool, so do not keep software you no longer need.
What not to do
- Do not install software from outside the catalogue without a review. Unreviewed software can be a security risk.
- Do not share a personal licence with colleagues.
