Benefits overview

This page gives a plain-language summary of benefits at Northwind. The formal rules live in the HR policies, and the HR portal has current plan documents and rates. If this page and a policy disagree, the policy applies.

Time off

The current leave policy is POL-HR-001 version 2, effective 2026-01-01.

Benefit Current entitlement
Annual leave 22 days per year
Carry-over Up to 5 days into the next year
Sick leave 10 days per year
Parental leave 16 weeks
Public holidays Per office, see Company holidays 2026

Version 1 of POL-HR-001 (effective 2024-01-01) gave 18 days annual leave and a 3-day carry-over; that version is superseded. For more detail on requesting leave see Leave and remote work.

Flexible working

Northwind allows up to 3 days a week of remote work with core hours of 10:00 to 15:00 local time (POL-HR-004). Equipment for working from home is described in Laptop setup.

Health and wellbeing

Health cover, an employee assistance programme and wellbeing days are available in each office. The cover differs by country, so the details are in the HR portal. Carol Nakamura (HR Business Partner) can answer questions about eligibility.

Retirement and financial benefits

US employees can join the company 401(k) plan. UK employees are enrolled in the workplace pension scheme and Pune employees in the statutory provident fund. Plan documents list contribution rates.

Learning and development

Each employee has an annual learning budget agreed with their manager. Certifications that map to our service lines, such as cloud and security certifications, are encouraged. Progression expectations are described in Career levels.

Work expenses

Business travel and client entertainment are reimbursed under POL-FIN-002. The current rules are explained in Submit expenses: the meal cap is $75 a day and the hotel cap is $220 a night.

How to enrol

  1. Complete the benefits form in your onboarding pack within your first 10 working days, see New hire onboarding.
  2. Return it to Jonas Berg (HR Coordinator).
  3. Confirm your enrolment in the HR portal.
